We had a very busy meeting indeed! First of all, we welcomed Jen, Sarah, Gemma, and Tamara to the group. Jen is an avid knitter and lover of all things creative. She spent the evening knitting a new hat which made me think maybe I should learn the art. Gemma is a painter, and also makes beautiful birds and cards. She cut out some new bird wings for her next creation. Tamara is also a painter and showed us her latest endeavor; toy making! Sarah just moved to Brighton from America and works with textiles and knitting. Sarah worked on the design for a hat she is going to knit.
In addition to the newcomers, we also had Melissa, Holly, Cath, and me, Angela. Melissa finished the pieces to the dress pattern she started last week. Holly worked on the sewing machine embroidering a gorgeous flowery patch onto a vest for summer. It was good to see Cath after a few months absence and as usual, she was full of experience and advice about all things to do with sewing! As for me, I struggled to settle down to anything which could be considered work as there were too many interesting things to see and chat about. I must confess that i mostly just drank tea and ate scones!
In addition to all the 'making' that got done, or didn't get done, we had some great discussions about inspiration and motivation in our creative work. We also talked about how we can use this blog to inform each other about different classes, events, resources, etc. Many of us would be interested in these kinds of things and agreed that if anyone found something intesting, it would be easy to find a friend from the group to go along. If anyone does find something they would like to share with the group, just e-mail me and I will put up a post on the blog, or, I think you might be able to comment on blog posts, if not, let me know.
Finally, I would like to thank Nathan for his fantastic scones and for acting as parking attendant!
